I grew up dyslexic without knowing it.
I went through school not understanding why some things felt so much harder for me than they did for everyone else. My dyslexia wasn't formally recognised until adulthood, after my own son was identified.
His story has been different.
I spotted the signs before he turned five, and I started intervention early. By the time he was formally identified at seven, we'd already spent years understanding his needs and putting the right support around him.
Today, he's thriving at school, achieving above average and fiercely proud of the way his brain works.
I've lived both sides of what early identification can change.
That's why I created DYSORA™ — to give families something I didn't have growing up: a way to understand the signs earlier, know what to do next, and start supporting their child without waiting years for answers.
My goal is to help 100,000 Australian children be understood earlier
I believe too many children still spend years struggling before anyone understands why. My long-term vision is for early dyslexia screening to become a routine part of Australian education, so fewer children grow up believing they're simply not good at learning when what they really needed was to be understood differently.
